We’re toasting the return of the ‘20s with a roaring rum cocktail sweetened with Local Hive Honey. This tony, 1920s-inspired cocktail looks flashy, but it’s simple enough to make for every guest at your New Year’s party. The recipe originated with Brugal rum, but any rum will do as long as it’s añejo – aged. These darker, smoother rums will pay off big time when the cocktail comes together.

If you have crushed ice, you can also serve this sweet honey cocktail in a highball glass like a mint julep, or try a similar recipe like this one.

For Honey Syrup:

2 tbsp Local Hive Honey

2 tbsp water

For Cocktail:

1½ oz [Brugal Añejo](https://www.liquor.com/expressions/brugal-anejo-rum/) rum

1 oz honey syrup

¾ oz fresh lime juice

1 oz Prosecco

1 dash Angostura bitters

1 mint leaf, for garnish

1. In a small saucepan, heat the honey and water until dissolved. Let the mixture cool completely.
2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the rum, honey syrup, lime juice and ice. Shake until chilled, then strain into a chilled coupe glass. Top with Prosecco, garnish with a dash of bitters and a mint leaf, then serve.
