What Makes Organic Hive Honey Different?

Honey Facts

“Organic” is one of those words that sounds simple but gets tricky fast—especially with honey. Here’s why Organic Hive Honey is truly unique.

Why U.S. Honey Can’t Be Certified Organic

Bees fly wherever they like, which makes it nearly impossible for U.S. beekeepers to guarantee their hives only forage in organic areas. Think about it: how can anyone really know that their millions of bees visited this-or-that flower? They can't. And since most beekeepers in the U.S. place their bees on or near farmland, virtually no American honey is certified organic.

The Brazil Difference

Organic Hive Honey comes from carefully managed Brazilian beekeepers, where hives are surrounded by miles of organic farmland and forest. Like lots of miles. The Local Hive team flew all the way to Brazil to meet the beekeepers who produce Organic Hive right in their backyards. We drove on dirt roads for hours to visit these isolated, rural areas in the Brazilian highlands, far from any large-scale agriculture.

These communities are often totally dependent on honey production for survival, with only subsistence farming or textiles for other sources of income. But they're surrounded by lush forests with diverse floral sources and balmy weather year-round: perfect for honeybees to forage and create deliciously sweet, rich and light honey.

Not Just “Organic”—100% Organic

Many organic honeys on store shelves are actually blends of honey from as many as 4 different countries! Other brands claim to be organic but source their "organic" honey from unregulated middlemen and international honey exchanges. With honey blended and shipped in from China, India, Uruguay and other countries, how could they possibly know what's in their honey?

Organic Hive is different: it’s never blended, never watered down. Just pure, organic honey, straight from beekeepers we know and trust.

Is Organic Better?

Nutritionally, organic honey is similar to other raw honey. But if knowing your honey is produced in a pristine, pesticide-free environment matters to you, Organic Hive delivers exactly that.
