Honey-Gorgonzola Grilled Pears

Recipes

This grilled pears recipe makes an excellent appetizer for a grilled dinner on a hot summer night. Besides the aesthetic joy of a perfect grill mark on a juicy pear, grilling also brings out a richer flavor from the fruit, with a subtle caramelized flavor.

Top each sweet, caramelized pear with your favorite crumbly, complex bleu cheese. Gorgonzola is just our favorite to say; bleu cheese, feta, and roquefort are all just as good.

Once you get them off the grill, you'll quickly realize that you can top a grilled pear appetizer with almost anything: sauces, cheese, nuts, prosciutto, arugula...the combinations are as endless as they are mouthwatering.

But the final topping that really takes this recipe over the top is our new Local Hive Honey Hot Sauce. It's a sweet-heat blend of jalapeño peppers and 100% U.S. honey that doesn't burn so much as sizzle. Paired with a sweet, complex starter like grilled pears, it adds a curious bit of spicy perfection.

Now, let's fire up the grill.

Honey-Gorgonzola Grilled Pears Recipe

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
4 pears (bosque, bartlett or green), halved
2/3 cup gorgonzola
Local Hive Original honey Hot Sauce
Microgreens, for garnish

DIRECTIONS

1. Chop walnuts. For added flavor, toast them by cooking them in a small skillet until lightly browned. Heat grill over medium-high heat.

2. Halve pears and place cut-side down onto grill. Grill for 3–5 minutes until grill lines form. Watch closely for flareups and reduce heat if needed.

3. Carefully remove pears and place cut-side up on a serving tray. While still warm, crumble cheese onto pears, letting it melt a bit. Top with walnuts, microgreens, and a drizzle of Local Hive Honey Hot Sauce. Serve warm or chilled.
