Spicy Stuffed Dates with Pistachios

Stuffed dates instantly elevate any occasion to an event, perhaps even to a full-on soirée. Add a sweet-heat drizzle of Mango Habanero Honey Hot Sauce, and you've got an hors d'oeuvre that says, "I know how to host an event, dangit."

Or maybe you're just hungry for some stuffed dates on a random Tuesday night.

Either way, this spicy stuffed dates recipe has all the food groups:

  • Spicy (habanero pepper sauce)
  • Sweet (3x the sweet: medjool dates, honey in the Honey Hot Sauce AND a drizzle of Local Hive Honey)
  • Creamy (whipped goat cheese)
  • Crunchy (crumbled pistachios)

That's reason enough for us to bust open a new bottle of Honey Hot Sauce - and maybe a new bottle of varietal honey, too.

A few pro tips before you start stuffing dates:

  • You can chop the pistachios, but it's easier to crush them (gently) with the dull end of a knife. Or a hammer. Your call.
  • A little habanero honey hot sauce goes a long way. Just a drizzle will do.
  • Refrigerate the dates until right before you serve them to keep that whipped goat cheese texture perfect.

Now, let's make some spicy stuffed dates!

Medjool dates, pits removed and sliced open

4 oz whipped goat cheese

1/4 cup pistachios, chopped

Local Hive Honey, for drizzling (we recommend New England)

Pinch of flaky salt

Local Hive Habanero Honey Hot Sauce

Fill the cavity of each date with a couple teaspoons of goat cheese.

Press chopped pistachios into the goat cheese in each date.

Arrange stuffed dates on a serving plate, drizzle with honey and Habanero Honey Hot Sauce. Then sprinkle with a pinch of flaky salt.
