Honey Gin Hot Toddy

Recipes

Nothing warms you in winter like a Hot Toddy. The traditional recipe calls for whiskey, but this is an herb-y version made with gin and fresh thyme sprigs

Of course, both use honey to sweeten the drink, hot water, and lemon for a little zing

@lizdean chose Local Hive Honey in our Washington varietal from Our Northwest Passage Honey Flight box, but you can choose whichever unique flavor from the U.S. you like.

Question of the day: Is a hot toddy also a cold remedy?

Some say this concoction is a home remedy to ease the symptoms of a cold (it’s even referred to as “southern cough syrup”), but it’s also great for a toasty night in next a warm fire or at a festive holiday party.

INGREDIENTS

2 tsp Local Hive Honey of your choosing
1 shot of gin
Juice from half a lemon
Fresh thyme sprigs
¼ cup boiling water

DIRECTIONS

1. Pour the honey into a shaker.
2. Add 1 shot of gin, lemon juice, and a thyme sprig.
3. Pour in water.
4. Shake well.
5. Strain into a glass and garnish with a fresh thyme sprig.
