Mango Habanero Burger Bowl with Mango Salsa

Recipes

If you've never had a burger bowl, you might think of it as the trendier, spicier cousin of the "paleo" burger or "lettuce-wrapped" burger. You can stack everything up, bite by bite, and create a salad-like experience, but with a burger patty serving as the juicy centerpiece.

While you COULD top this bad boy with anything from our new line of seven Honey Hot Sauces, Mango Habanero just makes the most sense, doesn't it? After all, this recipe does call for fresh mango chunks. The citrusy sweet-heat flavor on top of the natural mango sweetness has to be tasted to be believed.

What goes in a burger bowl?

While most folks probably wouldn't put a mango on their burger, it makes weirdly perfect sense in a burger bowl. You'll feel like you're eating a fresh summer salad and juicy burger all at once, with a bit of habanero spice to really tie things together.

Our genius friends Rob & Haley Wall actually combined two honey hot sauces to make this recipe: Hatch Chile in the burger bowl itself and Mango Habanero in the salsa. Together, they add a nice, smoky sweetness that takes this easy lunch recipe over the top.

Ingredients

For Burger Bowl:
6 oz ground beef, pressed and cooked to preference
2 slices American cheese
Romaine lettuce, chopped
Grape tomatoes, sliced
1/2 avocado, chopped
Red onion, sliced
Bacon, cooked crispy and chopped
Homemade mango salsa (see below)
Local Hive Hatch Chile Honey Hot Sauce, to taste
Salt and pepper, to taste

For Mango Salsa:
1 cup frozen mango chunks, thawed
1/4 cup grape tomatoes, diced
1/ 4 cup cucumber, diced
1/4 cup red onion, diced
1 packed tbsp fresh basil, chopped
1 packed tsp fresh cilantro, chopped
1 tsp jalapeño, diced
1 tbsp fresh squeezed lime juice
2 tsp Local Hive Mango Habanero Honey Hot Sauce

DIRECTIONS

Directions
1. Dice, chop and prepare the mango salsa ingredients. Add mango, grape tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, fresh basil, fresh cilantro, jalapeño, lime juice and Local Hive Mango Habanero Honey Hot Sauce to a bowl. Mix well, coating all ingredients in lime juice and hot sauce. Taste and season with salt if needed.
2. Grill or cook burger patty. About 3–4 minutes before it's finished cooking, place a slice of cheese on top. Close the lid of the grill or cover your pan so that the cheese will melt.
3. While burger patty cooks, assemble burger bowl from the bottom up by adding romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, avocado, red onion, and bacon. Then top with cheeseburger patty and mango salsa.
3. Top with Local Hive Hatch Chile Honey Hot Sauce, salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm.
